Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Every year from September 15th through October 15th, Americans celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with traditions, culture, and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The purpose of Hispanic Heritage Month is to recognize the major contributions and critical presence of both Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States. It’s important to bring this celebration into schools and classrooms, to celebrate diversity among us all.

There are many ways to bring Hispanic Heritage Month into the classroom.  This Hispanic Heritage Month resource from Teachers Pay Teachers is a perfect way to introduce the subject to your students!  It is recommended for Grades 3rd-7th. In the resource you will also find a lot of information as to why we celebrate it and important figures who have made tremendous contributions. Students can also enjoy testing their knowledge with a fun quiz and expanding their Spanish vocabulary with an English-Spanish dictionary!

We also recommend checking out this website to discover more about the 21 Hispanic Countries of Origin history. It goes into detail about every country, nicely laid out and easy to understand.
